Pink slip? We’ll help you get started

pink slipAs many companies are affected by the economy, lots of employees have been laid off recently. Many of them are looking for a new job, and others are starting for themselves. If you are starting for yourself read on, because we really want you to be successful and have a couple of ways we can help you get started.

First of all you will get a one month free coworking membership worth $150. This will ensure you have a desk, a place to meet with potential clients and work from a professional space in downtown Fullerton with really nice people.

Secondly we have arranged a 50% discount on insurance that you may need when you start for yourself! Because many get health insurance through their employer, you probably need that and you want to look into liability insurance too.

Thirdly we have arranged a 1 year free webhosting package including a .com domain - so you can publish a website for your business and get potential customers that way.

Then we have arranged a free coaching session with a professional business coach. That way you will become and stay focussed on the results that you want to achieve.

Finally, last month the county opened up a new office literally around the corner from our office, where you can file a fictitious business name statement as needed to file your DBA which you’ll probably want if you start for yourself.

So come on in and bring some proof that shows that you were laid off and you get all of this for free and get started fast!

What else should be for free or at a discount? All comments are welcome!

Attempt to explain co-working

After about 1000 people coming in to ask what it is we’re doing here, I decided it was time to explain it in a simple way and posted it on the door. Hope it helps some :-)

“What are you guys doing here?”

Good question.

We have an internet business and we share our office for others to work from here. For $149 per month, you can work here 3 days per week on your own projects (bring a laptop), drink free coffee, and enjoy good company.

That’s a lot cheaper and cooler than renting an executive office and we think it is more productive than working from home.

Nice to meet you, come on in and make yourself comfortable or grab a flyer to hand out to someone you know and we will love you forever.

Coworking Fullerton in the news

Biz Buzz: News from Fullerton’s businesses

City finds new way to help small businesses

The Orange County Register

Branding Personality opens

For nearly two years, Marieke Hensel tried to establish a networking business in her native Holland, but could not get the support of City Hall. So, when she and her husband, Rutger, moved to Orange County, they decided to try and launch their concept for an American audience.

The couple found what they believe is the right location on east Amerige Avenue, one-half block from Harbor Boulevard in the former Saltwater Designs site.

“This is for people who work at home to have some interaction,” Hensel said. “They can come here, network, fax, print, use the Internet and chat over a cup of Starbucks.”

Rutger, a programmer, is also available to help with any problem-solving. The shop is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

5 people are starting to cowork at our location!

It was a great day here, thank you to all 20 who attended!!
Some people were professional business people, having appointments with people within their network. Other people came by to get computer work done. Programmers were coding, designers were working in Adobe Illustrator. And lots of projects were tracked in Basecamp.

Great to hear the suggestions that everyone had to improve eachothers business. People were giving others advise on tax issues and legal letters that need to be sent. And people were invited to attend other local networking events.

It was so nice to meet all of you and we enjoyed your presence! A special thank you to the 5 attendees who signed membership contracts for a flexible workspace!! Everybody got (some!) work done and we all had a good time together!
